Varamin Green Region Design

December the 21st, a meeting was held involving the Varamin region governor and the director of National Committee on Energy Efficiency and Environment, Office of Vice Presidency for Science and Technology (CEEE,ISTI) as well as relevant region’s sector managers and researchers of Sharif Energy Research Institute (SERI). Regional challenges and potentials regarding the sustainable development of the region were highlighted by Mr. Yousefi, the Varamin governor. Dr. Saboohi, the director of SERI and the CEEE introduced different technical solutions to face the sustainability issues of urban and rural regions of Iran. He also recommended the Varmin region as a pilot program for green region development plans. Following him, representatives of technical groupd of SERI on various topics on integrated management of solid waste, agricultural water and energy demand, wastewater system, building energy efficiency, household modeling, transportation, industry and education. As a result, the attendances were agreed on a need for feasibility study for design of a green region development plan with contribution of all related national committees of ISTI and educational research institutes, e.g., SERI.
